Clay County man charged with killing his cousin

INDORE, W.Va. — West Virginia State Police say a Clay County man allegedly shot his cousin to death during a dispute Wednesday evening.

Zachary Daniels, 26, of Indore, was arrested and charged with first degree murder of Brian Deboard, 33, who was a Division of Corrections supervisor at Mount Olive Correctional Complex. The two lived together.

The two men allegedly got into a fight when Daniels pulled a 9mm semi-automatic handgun on Deboard, who died of serious wounds. Police recovered the handgun used in the shooting, following Daniels’ arrest.

Daniels is being held without bond at the Central Regional Jail.

The Troop 4 Crime Scene Team also responded to assist with the investigation.
