Sexual assault sentencing next for ex-Berkeley County teacher

Erin Thomas

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A former Hedgesville High School teacher convicted on sexual assault charges will learn his fate next month.

Erin Thomas, 32, found guilty of sexually abusing a female student in June, is scheduled to be sentenced Sept. 25 in Berkeley County Circuit Court.

Berkeley County assistant prosecuting attorney Gregory Jones told The Herald Mail newspaper a judge denied post-conviction bail because the crime was an act of violence under state code.

Thomas faces between 10 and 20 years in prison.
