Trial postponed of N.C. man charged in Hedgesville death

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — The trial for a North Carolina man charged in connection with a July 2015 robbery and homicide in Hedgesville was rescheduled Thursday in Berkeley County Circuit Court.

James Love Sr.

James Love Sr., 38, had been set to go to trial June 13, but the date was moved to Aug. 29 as attorneys sought more time to locate and subpoena witnesses.

Love faces numerous charges stemming from the death of Tracey McCauley including murder, felony murder and first-degree robbery and assault during the commission of a felony.

McCauley, 52, was found on the night of July 2 bound with cords and covered with a blanket on the living-room floor of her home.

Love had been staying with McCauley for a few weeks before her death, but authorities suggest the two were not romantically involved.
