New Orleans Saints to help with flood cleanup Wednesday near The Greenbrier

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — After Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, the New Orleans Saints organization became familiar with the cleanup following a natural disaster.

Before officially beginning their 2016 campaign at The Greenbrier on Thursday, the Saints will help West Virginia in its time of need, assisting in the relief effort Wednesday at Villa Park in White Sulphur Springs.

“On behalf of our entire organization, we wish to extend our thoughts and prayers to all of the West Virginians whose lives have been dramatically affected by the severe flooding the state has recently received,” a team statement said.

The Saints also asked fans to donate to the United Way.

Out of the 23 West Virginia residents killed in the June 23 flood, 15 were in Greenbrier County.

Camp gets underway for the Saints’ third straight summer at the resort at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday at the Greenbrier Sports Performance Center.
