W.Va. man killed in Shepherdstown crash

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — A Shepherdstown man died early Sunday after the car he was riding in struck a stone wall at the intersection of Duke Street and Campus Drive near Shepherd University.

Shepherdstown Police say Robert Johnson, 36, was pronounced dead at Berkeley medical Center where he was taken after the crash that occurred shortly after 2:30 a.m.

The driver, Demetrius Steele, 28, of Glen Burnie, Md., was taken to Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown with life-threatening injuries.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation, providing an accident reconstructionist.
