CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — Harrison County 911 officials are reporting only slight damage from flooding, despite being one of the six West Virginia counties under a state of emergency.
“I have no reports of significant damage at all,” said Paul Bump, director of Harrison/Taylor 911 Center. “I have been calling the office asking where the problem areas are, and it’s our typically roadway flooding areas.”
Shift Supervisor Sgt. Mick said much of Harrison County’s damage has been in and around Shinnston and northern Harrison County. Taylor County is seeing slight damage in low lying areas.
Mick said most of the calls coming into the 911 center has been for downed trees.
“There’s some flooding, and there’s some road closures,” she said. “There’s a lot of trees down where the ground is so saturated, the trees are just falling over.”
Road closures in the area include:
— Rt. 3, Peoria Road, in Wyatt
— Rt. 20 North just past Gregory Run
— Rt. 4 in Margarette, as crews respond to a rock slide
— Rt. 96, Hollow Road is washed out
— County Road 44/8 Grand Street is possibly washed out under the road
— County Road 40, Riverside Drive, as crews work to clear a rock slide and unplug a culvert
— Trees down on various other roads throughout Harrison and Taylor counties.
First responders from Harrison County are assisting flood efforts in Marion County.
