Berkeley County woman killed in single vehicle crash

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — A Hedgesville woman died in a single-vehicle crash Thursday.

Berkeley County Sheriff Curtis Keller told the Herald Mail Jennifer Sanders, 38, was driving on a remote section of Back Creek Valley Road about a mile from her home when the vehicle she was driving went over an embankment shortly after 6:30 in the morning.

Sanders was pronounced dead at the scene.

Keller said a preliminary review of the crash scene shows Sanders appears to have suddenly pushed on the brakes of the car after it crossed the center line for an unknown reason.

He speculated that the incident may have been deer-related.
