Raleigh County woman charged after taking van with autistic teen inside

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A Raleigh County woman has been charged after allegedly stealing a vehicle with an autistic 16 year-old boy inside.

Michelle McMillion, 33 of Fairdale.

According to a criminal complaint, police responded to a stolen vehicle call at the Harper Road Kroger Monday. Upon arrival, they learned a white van was taken that had a 16 year-old male with autism inside.

The juvenile was on the phone with his father saying a female was driving the vehicle and would not let him out.

The driver was later identified as Michelle Mcmillion, 33 of Fairdale. She stopped the vehicle at the GoMart further west on Harper Road.

The victim’s father told West Virginia State Police Mcmillion was attempting to panhandle in the Kroger parking lot. He asked her what she was doing and she told him she was waiting for a man. Mcmillion then got into their van and fled the scene with the teen.

McMillion faces charges of kidnapping and grand larceny. She is being held in the Southern Regional Jail without bond.
