West Virginia football player hits pedestrian with car on Oakland Street

Darius Stills

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A vehicle hit a WVU student Tuesday morning on Oakland Street.

Joyelle Williams, 19, of Jessup, Maryland, was struck by Darius Stills, 20, of Fairmont, according to a Morgantown Police Department press release.

Stills is also a WVU student, Andrew Stacy, Morgantown’s public information officer, said.

Stills is a defensive lineman with the WVU football team.

Williams had “superficial abrasions” and was taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital for treatment, the release stated.

It was discovered Stills was driving without properly clearing his windshield of ice and frost which obstructed his view and prevented him from seeing Williams, the release said.

Stills was cited for the incident, the release stated.
