Pedestrian killed in Jefferson County hit-and-run, driver charged with DUI

HALLTOWN, W.Va. — A Maryland man is dead and a Virginia man is behind bars following a hit-and-run crash in Jefferson County.

William Snyder, 60 of Parksville, Maryland was out of his truck along US Route 340 in the Halltown area Monday when Kenneth Lee, 45 of Strasburg, Virginia struck him. According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, Lee allegedly fled the scene.

Lee was caught later in the day by deputies in Warren County, Virginia. He was charged with driving under the influence.

“We appreciate Virginia law enforcement, especially the Warren County Sheriff’s Office for their swift apprehension of Mr. Lee,” said Jefferson County Sheriff Pete Dougherty.

Lee is being held in a Virginia jail waiting for extradition to West Virginia, where additional charges could be added.
