CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Saint Albans scored five runs in the first two innings to win the third place game in the MSAC softball tournament, 6-2 over Parkersburg Wednesday afternoon at John Adams Middle School.
Kendall Stoffell struck out ten batters and also scored three runs to lead the way for the Red Dragons. Saint Albans (18-6) jumped out to a 5-0 lead after two innings. Kait Griffith hit a 2-run homer as part of a 4-run uprising in the second inning.
Parkersburg (17-9) answered with a pair of runs in the third inning as Emily Allen homered to straightaway centerfield. But Stoffell allowed just two hits the rest of the way to close things out for SAHS.
Stoffell, Gracie Payne and Bailey Gilbert each had multi-hit games for the Red Dragons. Janna Yost had two hits and an RBI to lead the Big Reds at the plate.
