Two wounded in Raleigh County shooting

BECKLEY, W.Va. — A shooting near downtown Beckley left two people wounded Tuesday.

A report of shots fired was received by authorities at approximately 3 a.m. Officers responded to an apartment in the 1000 block of South Fayette Street and found the victims inside the residence.

Injuries to one of the victims were described by police as life-threatening. The other person was treated and released with injuries considered minor.

The identities of the victims were not released.

No arrests have been made and no suspects have been named.

Officers from the Raleigh County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia University Institute of Technology Police Department are assisting Beckley Police in the investigation.
