Tykee Smith’s high school teammate McLeod commits to West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — It is now safe to say that West Virginia football has built a pipeline to Philadelphia, and specifically to Imhotep Charter School. Especially when it comes to recruiting safeties.

Saint McLeod, a three-star junior safety from Imhotep, announced his commitment to the Mountaineers after a weekend visit. McLeod is West Virginia’s third commit from the Class of 2021.

When McLeod signs in December, he’ll be joining former high school teammate Tykee Smith in the WVU defensive backfield. Smith had a standout freshman season for West Virginia, earning freshman all-American honors from the Football Writers Association of America.

McLeod is a 5-foot-11, 190-pound prospect who has also taken visits to Kentucky, Penn State and Pitt.

West Virginia’s commitments for 2021

Saint McLeod (Philadelphia, Pa.) 5-11, 190 Safety 3-star
Andrew Wilson-Lamp (Massilon, Ohio) 6-3, 175 WR 3-star
Viktor Wikstrom (Stockholm, Sweden) 6-3, 235 TE  3-star
