Names released in restaurant shooting in Wayne County

LAVALETTE, W.Va. — Wayne County authorities have identified the shooter and victim in a Friday morning incident at a local restaurant.

Gary Lee Damron, 45, of Huntington was charged with murder after he was arrested in Cabell County. According to Sheriff Rick Thompson, Damron walked into the restaurant about 9:40 a.m. Friday and shot employee Keilee Sparks. She was found dead in the kitchen.

Damron fled to his home in Huntington where he was arrested a short time later by West Virginia State Police.

Investigators say the shooting was a result of domestic situation and Damron and Sparks had a longtime relationship.

A Tudor’s corporate spokesman said the restaurant will be closed for an undetermined amount of time.
