Most counties declare primary election results

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — All but six West Virginia counties have declared results in last week’s primary election as of Tuesday evening.

The remaining counties — Lewis, Harrison, Morgan, Preston, Randolph and Wyoming — have completely reported their election data, according to the West Virginia Secretary of State’s Office.

Two contests remain close; Sam Petsonk leads Pendleton County Delegate Isaac Sponaugle in the Democratic primary for state Attorney General with 164 votes. Hillary Turner leads Lacy Watson in the party’s 3rd Congressional District primary with a 70 vote margin.

Winners in both races will face incumbent Republicans: state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey and U.S. Rep. Carol Miller, R-W.Va.
