SALEM, W.Va. — Many are remembering the life of Salem Fire Chief Rick Todd in north central West Virginia. Todd died this week of complications related to Covid 19.
‘He’s irreplaceable,” said Ronnie Davis, City Manger for Salem. “He knew everything about the fire department and our EMS service. He’ll be hard to replace.”
Todd formerly ran the Salem’s Emergency Medical Services before he retired. He was still called on often to help the local ambulance and medical service react accordingly.
“He was just an excellent guy and he knew everything going on that department. As far as I’m concerned, he was one of the best,” said Davis.
Officials with the emergency management offices, the Harrison/Taylor E911, and the Central Communications Doddridge & Ritchie Counties911 all expressed their deepest condolences to the friends and friends of Todd in a release announcing his death on Thursday.
Several other fire departments and ambulance units in the region were sharing their sorrow and paying respects to the chief and his legacy on their social media pages.
