Missing Jefferson County woman found safe

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. — After a large scale effort involving law enforcement and community volunteers, a Harpers Ferry woman has been found.

The 63-year-old woman was reported missing Saturday after she took her dog out for a walk and the dog came back without her. Search crews had an all-out search Sunday with more than 160 people, including dozens of volunteers.

On Monday, her daughter reported the woman had been found by a hunter earlier in the day, and that she was back at her house. According to the message, which came out around 8 a.m., the woman was ‘healthy and walking on her own.”

The family is thanking everyone for the search efforts and prayers.
