CHARLESTON, W.Va. — An international manufacturer of sustainable products is expanding its operations in Raleigh County.
Gov. Jim Justice joined various leaders on Monday to announce Klockner Pentaplast’s investment into its Beaver facility, which will result in 21 new full-time positions at the site.
Mark Gonyar, a Klockner Pentaplast representative, said the plastics made in West Virginia will be utilized in the meat market.
“This expansion is multi-million dollars with several equipment upgrades. It will offer some really great products to the market for modified atmosphere packaging in the fresh protein space,” he said. ”
Gonyar added the addition will result in post-consumer plastic will be transformed into food-safe packaging and blister cards – Andex.
Justice said the announcement is a testament to West Virginia’s economic strength.
“A lot of people on the outside are now discovering that West Virginia is the diamond in the rough that they all missed,” he said. “We continue to pump out surplus after surplus without raising new taxes.”
Justice also noted the possibility of eliminating the state income tax when the state Legislature begins its work in February.
“There’s just so many good things that come with a vibrant economy, and West Virginia is truly on the move,” he added.
Klockner Pentaplast also manufactures credit cards, consumer packaging and construction film.
