CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Additional data on the COVID-19 vaccination distribution efforts in West Virginia is now available to the public.
The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) launched an additional information tab on its COVID-19 dashboard on Monday morning, “Vaccine Summary.”
By clicking on the tab, it shows graphs with vaccines administered by day, vaccine by age group, cumulative vaccines administered, and the percentage by sex.
“We are looking at getting people vaccinated as quickly as possible and as many people as possible. We want to vaccinate everyone,” DHHR Secretary Bill Crouch said during Monday’s coronavirus briefing.
Above the graphs are hard numbers on the first and second doses received in the state. As of Monday, there has been 109,440 first doses received and 92,070 first doses administered, equaling an 84.1% of first doses administered. 16,575 second doses have been received with 13,469 have been administered as of Monday, equaling an 81.3% rate of second doses administered.
The total number of first doses administered and people fully vaccinated are both shown on the overview portion of the dashboard, as well.
State coronavirus czar Dr. Clay Marsh says the new data reveals strong distribution in West Virginia.

“Over 80 percent is a benchmark that I don’t believe anyone else can meet at this point. We are so proud because of the great leadership as the governor said of the National Guard, retired general (Jim) Hoyer,” Marsh said.
Marsh noted during the unveiling of the tab that West Virginia is the first state to break five immunizations per 100 people and the first start to vaccinate all nursing homes.
He said as a holiday COVID surge may be on the verge is the coming days that the next best thing to a vaccination remains to wear a mask.
“We look at this time rolling up with the potential of a surge coming. Please, please, please wear your mask and please choose to get the vaccine,” Marsh said.
