CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Active COVID-19 cases increased for a second straight day in West Virginia Thursday.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources reported active cases climbed to 998 with 80 newly confirmed cases and 68 recovered cases reported during the past 24 hours. The last time active cases increased was in early May.
The DHHR also reported a two case increase in the Delta variant. There have now been 19 cases confirmed in West Virginia.
There’s also been an additional COVID-19 death in the state, a 69-year-old man from Preston County.
Hospitalizations dropped by three to 80 patients in Thursday’s report.
There were 371 vaccinations recorded statewide on Wednesday.
