CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Police are working to identify as many juveniles as possible from a video of an attack on a West Side business owner on Halloween night.
“In the video you can see what appears to be a group juveniles attacking the owner of a business in the 400 block of Washington Street in the alleyway,” said Charleston Police Department Spokesman Sgt. Travis Bailes.
Bailes said the attack happened at around 1 a.m. Sunday and came not long after police had broken up a large gathering at a party on Butler and Vincent streets not far from the attack scene. Police believed most of those in the video had been at the party and moved down to Washington Street where they confronted the owner of Wandering Wind Meadery,” Bailes said.
Reports have identified the business owner as Dave Bragg. He told WCHS-TV he suffered a concussion, a broken rib and eye injury. He was hospitalized for several hours.
“He asked them to leave the property and the next thing you know a fight breaks out,” Bailes said.
Bailes said they had identified several of the juveniles, including the ones who in the video appeared to be the instigators of the fight. He said the work continues because they want to hold everybody accountable who is responsible.
