CHARLESTON, W.Va. — There has been a slight increase in the number of active COVID-19 cases in West Virginia.
The state Department of Health and Human Resources reported 358 active cases Friday. On Thursday, that number was 324.
The state added four new deaths, bringing the total number to 6,753 deaths.
DHHR has confirmed the deaths of a 62-year old male from Morgan County, a 79-year old female from Harrison County, a 79-year old female from Greenbrier County, and a 26-year old male from Kanawha County.
“We mourn the loss of these West Virginians and send our deepest sympathies to their loved ones,” said DHHR Cabinet Secretary Bill Crouch in a statement. “Vaccines are safe and effective, and if you are eligible, please do your part by scheduling a COVID vaccine and booster.”
There are 116 people hospitalized with the virus including 33 patients in the ICU and 16 patients on ventilators.
