Man dies after falling into West Fork River in Clarksburg

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. – A man has died after falling into the West Fork River in Clarksburg.

Just before 9 a.m. Friday first responders pulled William Garrison Elwell, 45, from the river near West Pike Street. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Clarksburg Police Department, Harrison County Sheriff’s Department, Harrison County EMS and Clarksburg Fire all responded.

The investigation is ongoing.
