Man charged with murder in McDowell County shooting death

WELCH, W.Va. — A McDowell County man faces murder charges in connection with a shooting that left a woman dead.

Jhamel Scott, 23, was arrested a home on Steward Street in Welch Friday morning.

Police found Summer Robinette, 21, dead at the scene.

A weapon was recovered at the home.

Scott is charged with first degree murder.

Robinette had a four-year-old son who was also in the home when police arrived.

The Welch Police Department is investigating.
