CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The active case total of COVID-19 in West Virginia on Wednesday nearly stayed the same from the total Tuesday reported by the state Department of Health Human Resources (DHHR).
The DHHR confirmed 813 active cases on its dashboard Wednesday, up from 812 the previous day.
Two additional COVID-19-related deaths were added to bring the statewide death total to 6,872.
DHHR confirmed the deaths of a 63-year old female from Cabell County and a 76-year old female from Preston County.
“Today is another hard day as West Virginians cope with the loss of loved ones, and we extend our deepest condolences to these families,” said Bill J. Crouch, DHHR Cabinet Secretary on Wednesday. “Being fully vaccinated and boosted is the most effective way to prevent severe illness, hospitalization or death from COVID-19.”
COVID-19 hospitalizations were at 109, up from 100 on Tuesday. 25 patients are in intensive care and 12 on a ventilator.
