HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Medal of Honor recipient, West Virginia native, Woody Williams will lie in state at the state capitol in Charleston on Saturday and Sunday.

Williams, 98, died at the Woody Williams VA Hospital in Huntington Wednesday morning.
The Huntington-based Beard Mortuary has announced Williams’ body will lie in state both Saturday and Sunday in the lower rotunda at the state capitol.
The body will be transported from Huntington to Charleston in a processional Saturday morning beginning at 8 a.m. The public viewing Saturday goes from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and continues Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The body will then be moved to the state Culture Center at the Capitol Complex for funeral services set to start at 4 p.m. Sunday.
Beard Mortuary spokesperson Lisa McComas told WSAZ-TV that they’ve met with Williams several times over the years about his funeral.
“He has told us exactly what his wishes are and we’re going to do everything in his honor,” McComas said. “I know I am doing exactly what he would have wanted.”
Williams will be the first person to lie in state at the state capitol since the death of U.S. Senator Robert Byrd in June 2010.
