Video: Parkersburg vs Buckhannon-Upshur (2018 Class AAA Girl’s State Basketball Championship)

Two late free throws by Shaylee Kirby with 7.5 seconds left gave the Parkersburg Big Reds their first Class AAA state title since 1996 defeating Buckhannon-Upshur, 49-47. The No. 3 seeded Big Reds shot 73-percent from the field in the fourth quarter, and held off a late Lady Buccaneers run.

The championship victory would be the first of back-to-back titles for Parkersburg. The margin of victory was also the closest since the 2009 North Marion state title victory over Huntington, 66-64.
