Authorities confirm 3 deaths in Marion County plane crash

MARION COUNTY, W.Va. — At least three people died Thursday in a plane crash in Marion County.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed to MetroNews that a single-engine Piper PA-32 aircraft crashed in a wooded area near Campbells Run Road in Metz.

The plane is owned by Skyhawk Associates of Myerstown, Pennsylvania.

The plane was flying from Shawnee Field Airport in Bloomfield, Indiana to Deck Airport in Myerstown.

The agency and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the crash; the NTSB will lead the inquiry and provide further updates.
