Murder investigation underway in Mercer County

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. — Mercer County deputies are investigating a shooting death.

According to authorities, a man was discovered unresponsive in the parking lot of the Mercer Mall in Bluefield at around 2:30 a.m. Thursday. He had been shot numerous times. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mercer County Sheriff’s Department has started a homicide investigation.

The name of the victim hasn’t been released.
