Lincoln County students finally heading home

HAMLIN, W.Va. — All students from PK-8 sent home safely Friday afternoon.

School officials from Lincoln County schools determined the road conditions were safe enough for the students to be transported home.  Students began leaving the campus grounds around 6:45.

In a Facebook post from the school Friday afternoon at 8 p.m., the school said, “All Duval PK-8 students have been transported home safely. Thank you to all staff, community members, and families for a safe delivery home.”

A couple hundred Lincoln County students stayed overnight at the high school and at Duval PK-8 since Thursday afternoon due to high water in the area.

The students were heading home early Thursday on buses as rainfall hit the Duvall community hard, forcing the bus routes to be cut off and bringing students back to the schools.

Parents and guardians may pick up their kids from the bus stops, according to the Facebook post.
