Beckley Police arrest one in connection with string of shootings last week

BECKLEY, W.Va. — The Beckley Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a shooting last week in the area of Sheridan Avenue and Seventh Street.

Detectives took Chevaugn Akeem Gray into custody Thursday. He has been charged with being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm in relation to the shooting from April 22.

Beckley had seen three seperate shootings happen last week. Two of them are believed to be connected.

Gray is the first suspect police have arrested. Detectives are anticipating more arrests and additional charges to be made relating to the incidents.
