Marshals find Ohio man in Parkersburg wanted for sexual abuse of minor girl

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. — U.S. Marshals apprehended an Ohio man in Parkersburg last week who is accused of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl.

U.S. Marshalls of the Southern District of West Virginia said Christopher Edward Byrd, 35, of Cutler faces multiple charges including first-degree sexual abuse, sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian and displaying obscene matter to a minor. Byrd also violated his parole.

In a news release, Marshals said Byrd was arrested April 27 at the Aqua Isles Mobile Home Court in Parkersburg. Investigators also found Byrd to be in possession of a stolen motorcycle when he was arrested.

Byrd is being held at North Central Regional Jail without bond.

West Virginia State Police also assisted in the investigation with the Marshals.
