Kentucky man arrested in connection with Huntington shooting

HUNTNGTON, W.Va. — Law enforcement in Kentucky identifying and arresting a man linked to a shooting in Huntington from Wednesday morning.

The Ashland Police Department and the Northeast Kentucky Drug Task Force were able to assist Huntington Police detectives to identify Christopher Williams, 37, of Ashland Ky., as the suspect. Williams was arrested in the 3100 block of Central Avenue in Ashland Wednesday afternoon just before 4 p.m.

The shooting took place in the 1000 block of Jefferson Avenue a few hours earlier right before 11 a.m. Huntington Police found an 18-year-old man to be shot. He was transported to a local hospital by Cabell County EMS with non-life threatening injuries.

Williams has been charged with one felony count of malicious assault and one felony count of wanton endangerment. He will face extradition in West Virginia.
