Man arrested in Logan County, charged with kidnapping, sexually abusing woman

MOUNT GAY, W.Va. — Logan County sheriff’s deputies have arrested a man who allegedly took a woman captive and sexually assaulted her.

Edward Joseph Ramsey (WVRJA)

Deputies responded to a home on Holden Road in Mount Gay on Friday morning at around 3 a.m. The victim told deputies that she had been held captive for more than a day and sexually abused by Edward Joseph Ramsey, 47.

Deputies said that the victim appeared “battered,” with internal injuries and potential broken bones.

She was taken to the Logan Regional Medical Center to receive care.

Ramsey didn’t comply with commands once officers arrived at his home, deputies said, and he was “physically” brought under arrest.

He was charged with kidnapping, first-degree sexual assault, malicious assault, and obstructing.

Deputies said that more charges could be filed against Ramsey.

He’s being held in the Southwestern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
