Funding in place from USDA for Boone Memorial Health’s new health and wellness center

DANVILLE, W.Va. — Boone Memorial Health in Danville has secured funding for renovations into a new health and wellness center.

U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin

The U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development program, with an appearance from U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, announced a $14.3 million investment for Boone Memorial Health Monday.

Located inside the old Magic Mart building, the future wellness center aims to “provide quality outpatient healthcare and wellness services to a service area of approximately 32,200 rural residents.”

Senator Manchin joined the USDA, Boone Memorial Health officials, elected officials, as well as Boone County residents for the event.

“I was thrilled to join federal, state and local leaders, Boone Memorial Health representatives and Boone County residents today to celebrate the $14.3 million expansion of the hospital,” said Manchin. “This historic investment will help provide quality health and wellness services, as well as create good-paying, long-term jobs and spur economic development throughout the region.”

Senator Joe Manchin said other funds going towards the project came from an American Rescue Plan grant.

I look forward to continuing my support of Boone Memorial Health as the facility is renovated and I will continue advocating for resources to increase access to reliable and quality healthcare for rural communities across the Mountain State.” he said. “I was able to get a $3 million-dollar direct grant for this facility because it was a high area of high need.”
