Injuries reported after two crashes on busy highway in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Traffic backed up for several miles on busy Corridor G in Charleston Wednesday following two separate wrecks.

Charleston police said there were two separate crashes.

The first occurred at just after 4 p.m. near the intersection of Corridor G (U.S. Route 119) and Cantley Drive. A person fell out of one of the cars when a door flew open after the impact of the crash.

Police said a second collision occurred when a person got out of their car to help the injured in the first wreck but didn’t have the car in park and it hit an oncoming vehicle. Four people in that vehicle were taken to the hospital.

Part of the highway was closed for about an hour.
