HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Marshall’s football program has filled some of the vacancies on the coaching staff.
Herd defensive coordinator Jason Semore has added the responsibility of Marshall’s linebackers coach.
Former analysts Aaron Dobson and Bob Shoop have been elevated to full-time coaching positions, while Cody Crill joins new offensive coordinator Seth Doege’s staff as offensive line coach.

“As we enter a new year and new season, I’m excited about the additions to the staff,” MU head coach Charles Huff said. “We were able to hire some great people who happen to be phenomenal coaches as well. Their collective knowledge and experience will help our organization continue to improve. Thank you to the administration for creating the platform for us to be able to enhance our program.”
Dobson, a South Charleston native and one of the top receivers in Marshall history, has been elevated to coach the Herd’s receivers.
Crill will coach Marshall’s offensive line. He comes to Huntington after serving as tight ends coach for the XFL’s D.C. Defenders since September 2022. He also had coaching stops at Incarnate Word and Northwestern State and is a former head coach at Navarro College from 2015-18.
Shoop will coach Marshall’s safeties. The veteran football mind has nearly four decades of college coaching experience with stops at Mississippi State, Tennessee, Penn State and Vanderbilt.
Last spring, Shoop was the defensive backs coach for the XFL champion Birmingham Stallions.
