BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. — West Virginia State Police said a man has been arrested for allegedly stealing copper and mining equipment.
On Wednesday, officers responded to Tawney Road in the Lick Creek area of Boone County for two men who they said were burning copper in an area of a natural gas drip line. The men had fled prior to the officers arriving.
During their investigation, officers were able to identify one of the men as Jeremy Justice, 43, of Danville. Officers went to his residence which was not too far away along Lick Creek Road. At the residence, officers identified the other man as Bradley Schwan along with mine equipment and tools around the property.
After obtaining a warrant for the residence, officers confirmed that the large amount of stolen mine equipment, copper and tools came from the Honey Island Mine in the Robinson area of Boone County. Those items were taken by Breedlove’s Wrecker Service and will be recovered by a representative from Honey Island Mine who will find a total value of the recovered stolen items.
Jeremy Justice, 43 of Danville, has been charged with breaking and entering other than a dwelling. He’s been transported to the Southwestern Regional Jail.
An investigation is ongoing.
