Mother of missing Morgan County teenager believes her daughter was abducted

BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — The mother of a missing Berkeley Springs teenager says 15-year-old Angel Turner left her phone, her dog, and her medicine behind when she disappeared sometime in the early morning hours Saturday.

Her dad made the discovery in the Fairview Drive area of Berkeley Springs.

“The gate that keeps her dog out of her bedroom was (out of place) and the dog didn’t come out to meet him,” Angel’s mom Carrie Michaels said. “He went looking for her, couldn’t find her and noticed the dog was outside. She left her watch behind, which is her phone, and her medications.”

Michaels, who said her daughter is pre-diabetic, said neighbors reported seeing two separate vehicles around the property Thursday of last week.

K-9 units were deployed to the property and since Saturday morning, a missing poster has been circulated thousands of times online. There’s also a Facebook page called “Help Find Angel Turner.”

Michaels said she has no way to track her daughter.

“We have no information other than what has been given to us by neighbors,” she said. “Berkeley Springs and Morgan County are asking people to check their (video) cameras to see if there’s any information from about 11:30 p.m. Friday until about 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.”

Michaels said she believes someone groomed her daughter. Michaels said she and Angel’s dad had taken steps to limit the ways Angel could be online. Investigators are looking at any devices they know Angel might have had access to.

“Angel does not have a history of running away. She’s a homebody like her momma,” Michaels said. “In my mind, in my heart and in my soul, this is an abduction.”

Her mom said they don’t know which direction Angel was taken, pointing out the proximity of Interstates 70 and 68 as well as Rt. 522 near Berkeley Springs.

She is described as a white female, 5-1 and 260 pounds. She was last reportedly wearing a white t shirt, black shorts and white sneakers.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office at 304-258-0305.
