Suspect in equipment theft in Logan County arrested

Jeremy Ray Weekley

LOGAN, W.Va. — State Police in Logan County have arrested a man suspected in the heist of equipment valued at more than $150,000 from a southern West Virgiia mine site.

Jeremy Ray Weekley was taken into custody earlier this week and charged with Breaking and Entering, Grand Larceny, Destruction of Property, Transferring Stolen Property, and Conspiracy.

The charges stemmed from an August 31st break-in at an area off Route 17 near Kelley Hollow Road on property owned by Tren Services, Inc and Arch Resources Inc. The stolen equipment included a 2011 Bobcat 325G excavator, a Miller welder, a 14-foot Big Tex flatbed trailer with a woody deck, and approximately $100,000 dollars worth of copper wiring.

Troopers were able to develop Weekley as a suspect using surveillance video and witness interviews. Troopers said they were able to recover all of the stolen property after Weekley’s arrest and it was reported to the owners. Weekley is lodged in the Southwestern Regional Jail awaiting arraignment.
