Huntington mother charged after 10-month-old child dies of fentanyl intoxication

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — A mother in Huntington has been charged following her infant child’s death as a result of fentanyl intoxication.

On Wednesday, Candace Ferrell, 38, was charged with child neglect resulting in death.

Police were called in August to Ferrell’s Huntington residence when her 10-month-old girl was unresponsive. Officers found around three dozen pills inside a pack ‘n’ play where the baby was.

The baby girl was taken to a local hospital where she later died.
