West Virginia Supreme Court to settle state volleyball Class A dispute

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission will look to the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia for guidance in handling a dispute regarding class A volleyball in the state.

The WVSSAC released this statement Saturday:

“Following the entry of an order from the Hardy County Circuit Court, the WVSSAC is now faced with conflicting directives in relation to a prior order issued by the Tyler County Circuit Court regarding Class A Volleyball.

To address this inconsistency, the WVSSAC will seek clarification and guidance from the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia,” the statement read.

All other classes in volleyball were allowed to compete this past week at the state tournament in Charleston, however Class A teams were not.

The reason the class didn’t play in the tournament follows four injunctions from four different counties regarding the reclassification of schools.
