The renovation will see some key features at the center including, two fully turfed ballfields, three indoor tennis courts, a modern fitness, expanded fitness spaces, a multipurpose building with courts for basketball and tennis, and a permanent sediment control pond connected to several hiking trails. Having the new rec center in Logan County will help position Southern West Virginia as a major destination for sports, outdoor activities and wellness.
Justice says that this project means that a lot to Southern West Virginia and the community.
“This project means a whole lot to the future of Logan County and Southern West Virginia,” Gov. Justice said in a press release. “We’re building more than just a rec center; we’re creating an economic hub that will serve this region for generations. West Virginia is truly on a rocket ship ride, and I’m excited to see us keep soaring, especially in a place like Southern West Virginia. This place has some of the best people on the planet that deserve funds, and we are going to continue investing in this region.”
The project is expected to be finished in 2025.
