BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. — Significant damage this morning to the Coolfont Resort near Berkeley Springs in Morgan County following a multi-alarm fire that took place late Sunday night.
Fire crews from West Virginia, Maryland and Virginia were on the scene.
The main building “will be a complete loss,” according to Berkeley Springs Fire Chief James Steiner.
The fire was called in around 9 p.m. Sunday and more than two dozen crews from local jurisdictions including Maryland and Virginia as well as the 167th ANG Fire Fighting Unit were called out.
Steiner said firefighters were called back to the scene Monday morning to put out hot spots.
The resort has been around since the 1960s.
