GLENVILLE, W.Va. — The number of students coming to the Glenville State University campus has increased by 10% despite state and national enrollment trends.
Glenville State announced that Fall 2024 enrollment numbers reflect the opposite of state and national trends in college enrollment after seeing a 10% increase in first time freshman’s coming to campus compared to Fall of 2023.
However, according to recent national data, freshman undergraduate enrollment is currently declining by around 5% nationwide with the most significant drops seen at public and private non-profit four-year institutions.
GSU Assistant Vice President of Enrollment Management Rikki Butler said she believes it’s because Glenville State feels like home for students.
“Glenville State University is deeply committed to expanding opportunities for prospective students to ensure they have access to a quality education,” Butler said. “The sense of camaraderie at GSU is truly unparalleled. The moment you step onto campus, you can see and feel it.”
Glenville State President Dr. Mark Manchin said he is enthusiastic these numbers could continue to exceed expectation.
“There are so many exciting things happening at Glenville State University. From new state of the art facilities, to innovative degree programs, we truly do have something to offer everyone” Manchin stated. “I am hopeful and confident we will continue to see these numbers increase. By offering an affordable, quality college education without sacrificing a unique and enjoyable student experience, WV students will continue to see the value here in Glenville.”
