MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Due to the harsh weather conditions causing damage to roads, one asphalt plant will be opening earlier than expected.
Morgantown-based Greer Asphalt plans to open Tuesday to allow the state Division of Highways to begin repairing the roads that have sustained damage in North Central West Virginia.
Greer Industries Executive Vice President of Sales John Bossio said it’s part of the company’s mission.
“We recognize the immediate need for quality asphalt to repair and improve our roads following this winter’s severe conditions,” Bossio said in a news release. “By opening early, we are ensuring that the West Virginia Department of Highways and local paving contractors have access to the materials they need to get an early start on essential projects.”
Bossio said the early opening will also help contractors prepare for more extensive paving projects planned for the spring construction season.
Greer Industries is the parent company of MetroNews.
