CHARLESTON, W.Va.— State Senator Mike Stuart of Kanawha County has been picked to serve as General Counsel for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in Washington D.C.

Kennedy Jr., and families across our great country,” said Stuart in a released statement on the appointment.

Kennedy Jr. and the dedicated people of DHHS to meet the historic and exciting challenge to Make America Great Again and Healthy Again..”
Kennedy is awaiting confirmation from the U.S. Senate on his nomination to the Secretary position.
Stuart was elected to the state Senate in 2022 to represent the 7th District. He was defeated in the Republican Primary last year for the Republican nomination for State Attorney General. J.B. McCuskey defeated Stuart and eventually won the election over Democrat Teresa Toriseva.
Stuart ran Trump’s 2016 campaign in West Virginia and served as the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of West Virginia during Trump’s previous administration.
