Huntington police investigating shooting that injured one person

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. –One person was injured after a reported shooting Wednesday afternoon in Huntington.

The shooting was reported in the 2000 block of 11th Avenue.

Huntington Police Chief released this statement Wednesday evening.

“On March 19, 2025, at around 3:02 p.m., Huntington Police officers responded to a shooting in the 2000 block of 11th Avenue. The victim, who was shot in the right arm, drove himself to Cabell Huntington Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not life-threatening. The incident is under investigation by Huntington Police Detectives and Forensic Investigators.
Initially, first responders were sent to the 200 block of 11th Avenue, near Huntington Middle School and Southside Elementary, based on incorrect information the victim gave to CC911. It was quickly determined that this was a mistake, and officers were redirected to the correct location. There was no incident or threat near the schools.” 
The two schools were given the all clear a short time after they were put on lockdown.
