President Trump approves Public Assistance for 10 WV counties following February flooding

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — President Donald Trump has approved the state’s request for Public Assistance in 10 West Virginia counties after flooding ravaged multiple communities in mid-February.

Greenbrier, Lincoln, Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Monroe, Summers, Wayne, and Wyoming counties were approved Wednesday for Public Assistance Wednesday, according to a release from Governor Patrick Morrisey. The Public Assistance Program gives supplemental grants to both state and local governments to pay for debris removal, emergency protective measures, and infrastructure restoration.

Logan, McDowell, Mercer, Mingo, Wayne, and Wyoming have also been approved for Individual Assistance in recent weeks, which allows affected residents to individually file for disaster relief through FEMA.
