Victim of fatal Wood County shooting identified

WILLIAMSTOWN, W.Va. — Authorities have released more information in connection with a deadly Tuesday shooting in Wood County.

The Wood County Sheriff’s Office says Matthew Allen Briggs, 37, died and his partner, Barba Leanne Cupp, 32, was left injured after the shooting, which occurred in 100 block of Maple Drive in Williamstown.

Cupp, who was shot in the shoulder, was taken to the hospital. She is reportedly in stable condition.

The incident is still under investigation.
